Eschalon III release date set!

At last it is official. Basilisk games will release the third part of the Eschalon saga the
14th of February 2014. I have been waiting for this game a few years now. This is good news indeed. If you haven´t tried out the previous games I strongly suggest you do that if you like a single player RPG with turn-based combat and a range of skills and statistics to determine things instead of fast mouse clicking.

  1. I never finished the first one because it turns out that archers are really difficult. I got stuck when clearing the bee hive. Hopefully this one will be good because I enjoyed Eschalon 1 until I was at too much of a disadvantage.

  2. So apparently one good news and one sad news this week... I would have loved seeing Deathfire supported :-/

    1. Yes, but all hope is not lost. G3 Studios have gone into plan B and allows you to pledge at their website instead. The have opted to develop the game in different episodes, completing one episode at a time instead of the full game at once which allows them to take in less money to finish the first part. I will write more of that in another post and I will surely give another pledge.

  3. So what's your next game, Saintus?
Since you are (or at least were) an Amiga fanboy, and like real time blobbers, how about Evil's Doom? It was one of the last big Amiga games, but the full working version was only released recently, and it looks far better than any other Amiga game I've played. I've only taken it for a test drive, but it is on my 1996 play list (I'm nearly finished with 1995).
You can find a version that works without needing any installation here: http://thecompany.pl/game/Evil's+Doom+1.8

    1. Are you a psychic ? I actually had recently looked into taking Evil´s Doom on a small drive and tried it out for a short time. The thing that got me very cautious about it where that I read somewhere that the game is unable to finish. You can´t just beat the game. Do you know anything about that ?

The other game I was also trying out for a short time was Black Crypt, my old Amiga favourite that I know you also have played. I got stuck pretty quick on the first level and haven´t had the time to put more efforts into it. Also I hate the food aspect since I have to put much time into finding hidden buttons, secret door etc and then reload and execute those manouvers or my food would run out.

I have also just got Rome 2 Total War so I am having limited time right now but some vacation are waiting ahead this christmas so who knows ?

    2. Heh, great minds think alike, I guess?
I think the reason why Evil's Doom was not released back in the days was just because of those bugs, and that it was finally released when the last bugs were squashed out. So AFAIK it should be finishable now.

I had the same problem as you when I replayed Black Crypt. You have to move quickly and finish off the Ogre ASAP. Behind a door in the area he guards there is a scroll with the Create Food spell. After that Food is no longer a problem.
